Will my piece be exactly like the one shown on the website?

EK Designs jewelry hand makes each and every piece it sells. We take enormous pride in the quality of work that we do. We make every attempt to match the expectations of our customers. Due to the nature of the beads we use and their inherent uniqueness and availability, there may be differences in the piece you receive. Please rest assured that the changes are, for the most part, subtle. We make every attempt to follow the patterning and spirit of the piece displayed on our site. If, for any reason, you are unhappy with your order, we will be happy to replace it with something else or refund your money. All we ask is that you return your piece in the condition that it was received accompanied with the original invoice. Please do so within 14 days of its receipt. We are sorry to say that shipping charges cannot be refunded.

Do you do custom work?

We started out as a custom design firm and quickly grew from there. We love the inspiration we get from our customers (you have great ideas!) and we are happy to help you put together something entirely unique. What size options are there for your bracelets and necklaces?

Our bracelets come in a standard length of 7 inches and chokers come in 15 inches with the ability to adjust to a maximum length of 18 inches. Our experience is that this size accommodates women with a small to medium build. If you are in need of a different size (lets face it, we're all not uniform in shape and size!) you are able to make different choices at the time of ordering. We make every effort to accurately size your pieces. If you find that you chose an incorrect size at the time of ordering and need the piece redone, there will be a flat fee of $20.00 for that service. We don't believe in penalties, but please realize that resizing essentially means restringing which we do by hand. All we ask is that you return your piece with the original invoice within 14 days of its receipt. We will make every attempt to get it back to you as soon as we can.

How do you measure for the best fit?

Take a flexible piece of string and measure it to comfortably go around your wrist. Then add one inch to the measurement and it will give you your size. Our adult bracelets come in a standard length of 7 inches which accommodates a small to medium sized woman. There are other size options at the time of ordering so make sure to indicate any alternate choice there. We regret that once the bracelet is made, we have to charge you a restringing fee of $20.00 if it isn't correct. We don't believe in penalties, but realize that this means essentially redoing the bracelet.

Do you do repairs?

Our jewelry is made with quality and pride. We do everything we possibly can to ensure that the piece you order is constructed flawlessly. Please understand, however, that the nature of beaded jewelry is that it is constructed on a sting of woven metal. If it gets caught on a door knob or continually tugged on, it may loosen. It is essential that you take proper care of your piece to limit the wear and tear. If it does come undone, here's what you should do. Please collect the material and mail it back to us.

If the warranty period has expired, then we do charge a $20.00 repair fee for the first strand and $10 per string for additional strands, there also is a $7.50 shipping. Any  missing or broken beads/components will be charged per piece.  Indicate how you would like to pay for the repairs on a note that also briefly explains what happened (we'd like to keep track). Checks or credit cards are acceptable forms of payment.

What do I do if I am not satisfied with my piece?

We want you to be happy! If you are not satisfied, for any reason, you may return your piece for a full refund as long as it is returned within 10 days of receipt. If you return it after that time period, we will gladly credit you for the full amount towards the purchase of another item.

Is there a warranty for my jewelry?

We provide a 60 day warranty for all EK design pieces. This covers any flaws, defects or damage. If you need to return your order within the warranty period, please send it along to us with a copy of the original invoice.

One note, it is important to ship your piece back to us in a proper packaging. We can't make repairs to items that get damaged in the mail. We recommend that you use either a padded envelope or a small box with insulating foam.

How do I add a name to a mother's bracelet at a point in the future?

If you are adding a name, you've added a child and we congratulate you! We'd love to update your bracelet. There are a number of options available to you that are better discussed person to person. How do I care for my piece and keep it clean?

The best way to keep your piece in top condition is to follow a few simple rules. First, never wear your jewelry in the shower, pool or hot tub as the chemicals can cause the finish to become dull over time. Second, let your skin dry thoroughly after applying any lotions or perfumes. The residue can get in between the beads and erode the shine. For the best results in keeping your piece clean, our recommendation is to use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner. These can be purchased in a variety of places. Check with a jeweler for your local options. Finally, if you use liquid cleaner, use only a commercial jewelry cleaning solution. Just dip your piece quickly and polish with a polishing cloth.

Is all of your jewelry contained on this web site?

Absolutely not! While we have gone to enormous lengths to create a web site that represents the best of what we have to offer, it is by no means exhaustive. EK Designs is a work in progress. By constantly listening to our customers we are able to continually design pieces that are fresh, unique and cutting edge. 

How do I Place an order?

There are two ways to place an order. You can either place an order through our secure website, or you can contact us directly at 518-275-8937. We would be happy to talk with you and answer any questions that you may have.

How long will it take to receive my order?

We try to ship items as soon as possible, usually within 3 - 5 business days if we have all the pieces in stock. If we don't have the stock, we will let you know an estimated timeframe.  If you need something quickly or by a certain date, please send us an email using the address Lisa@ekdesignsjewelry.com.

What is the quality of the materials you use?

Our bracelets are made with the highest quality materials available. Remember we have been making jewelry for over ten years so our relationships have been long standing and we stand by our pieces. Our silver beads, toggles, and other jewelry components are made from: .925 sterling silver, which is standard in jewelry making. The gold beads are 14K gold filled. This, too, is the industry standard as solid gold tends to be softer, making it prone to scratching and denting. Finally, the pearls are fresh water.

What is 14 Kt Gold Filled?

14kt Gold Filled metal is brass with 1/20th by weight of 14kt solid gold material layered & chemically bonded to the surface of the brass "core" material. This is a much thicker layer of gold than any plated material, and has a higher gold content than 10 or 12kt Gold - Filled material. It provides the exact same look as solid gold, yet is much sturdier and is more resistant to scratch and dent damage.
